Statement on fire in Mbale Industrial and Business Park

There is a fire at a factory in Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial and Business Park. The industrial park is located in Mbale City in eastern Uganda.

The fire started at about 9:00 pm on 20^th December 2022 and its cause is yet to be established. The Uganda police fire brigade are on site doing their best to fight the fire and prevent it from spreading to other factories and buildings in the industrial park.

There are no casualties at this moment and all workers have been accounted for. The factory employs 400 Ugandans.

Uganda Investment Authority personnel are on site to render support to the investors as required.

Updates will come as and when necessary.
