Uganda Strengthens Trade, Investment and STI Partnerships at China Trade Fair 2026

By David Rupiny

Uganda successfully concluded its participation at the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, China, generating several promising investment and trade leads, including expressions of interest from companies seeking to invest in Uganda and import Ugandan products, particularly coffee.

The Consulate General of Uganda in Guangzhou will follow up these leads to facilitate their conversion into tangible trade and investment outcomes.

On the sidelines of CIFIT, Uganda’s STI Partnership and FDI Mission engaged several leading institutions and companies, including Xiamen University, CATL, Xiamen Information Group, the BRICS Industrial Cooperation and Go-Global Comprehensive Service Hub, and the China-BRICS Science and Innovation Incubation Park.

The engagements opened opportunities for partnerships with Uganda’s STI institutions in technology transfer, training and exchanges, innovation collaboration, and commercialization of Ugandan technologies and products.

The BRICS Industrial Cooperation and Go-Global Comprehensive Service Hub also offered Uganda a platform to promote its investment opportunities across its network of enterprises, providing a new avenue for attracting potential investors.

Uganda’s participation at CIFIT 2026 continues to advance the country’s Economic and Commercial Diplomacy agenda by turning international engagements into concrete opportunities for trade, investment and technology partnerships.
