Ukraine has opened its consulate in Uganda, opening new prospects for investments in agriculture as well as the export of coffee and tea.
Speaking at the inauguration of the consulate in the capital Kampala, the new Consul, Jay Patel, said there is significant potential for cooperation between Uganda and Ukraine in agricultural value chains, technology transfer, and mechanization.
He said: “Uganda and Ukraine share a common vision for growth. We see vast potential in agricultural value addition, moving beyond raw exports and processing, and technology exchange, whether it is Ukrainian machinery helping Ugandan farmers increase their yields or seeing world-class Ugandan coffee and tea reaching Ukrainian homes”.
In her remarks, the Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, said Ukraine’s expertise in large-scale agriculture, grain production, irrigation systems, and agro-processing aligns with Uganda’s push for agricultural modernization and industrial park development.
