In order to deepen investment promotion linkages between industry and academia, the Uganda Investment Authority’s Director General, Robert Mukiza, and the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, have met and discussed opportunities for collaboration.
The meeting focused on exploring investment opportunities and potential areas of collaboration between the UIA and Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest and most prestigious university.
UIA already has some collaboration with Makerere University, through the Consortium for Enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development (CURAD Incubator), a public-private partnership initiative promoted by Makerere University, the National Union of Coffee Agribusinesses and Farm Enterprises (NUCAFE), and the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO).
UIA hosts the CURAD Incubator in Namanve, its flagship industrial park. The incubator focuses on boosting jobs and income creation within the agricultural sector in Uganda, with a special focus on empowering youth.

CURAD supports students, graduates, both skilled and unskilled, start-ups and SMEs to grow and develop their business ideas along specified value chains.
