President Museveni rallies Ugandan Diaspora to invest back home

President Yoweri Museveni has called on Ugandans living and working abroad to invest back home and participate in Uganda’s development.

The President, while meeting a delegation of National Resistance Movement party members from across the world at Nakasero State Lodge in Kampala on September 2, said a special position will be created within the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) to represent the interests of the Ugandan Diaspora.

“For the investments, I will appoint one of you once you recommend him or her as a deputy director of the UIA so that when you come, you go to him or her directly without going through other people”, the President said.

UIA also engages with the Ugandan Diaspora through various channels like the Missions Abroad, conferences, forums, expos, online reaches, roadshows, and outward and inward missions, among others.

President Museveni also urged the Ugandan Diaspora to formally register with the Government through their respective associations to smooth planning for and supporting them.
