Press Release: eBiz: The Investors’ One Stop Centre Portal

PRESS RELEASE

eBiz: The Investors’ One Stop Centre Portal

Tuesday 7th February 2017

Today morning, Hon Evelyn Anite, Minister of State for Investment and Privatisation in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, together with some private sector individuals, was treated to a demonstration of how the eBiz operates to integrate all the investment related government services into one portal to serve the investors more efficiently.

Representative Officers from Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, and the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development / Directorate of Land Registration showed how the investors can use the portal and demonstrated the operations that took place at the back end to ensure that an investor was served in the shortest time possible. The portal removes all the red tape that has been causing delays in setting up business in Uganda hence increasing the cost of doing business in the country.

Using the eBiz, one is able to register and incorporate a company; apply for an investment license; apply for a tax identification number; verify land titles before purchase of land for investment; carry out the procedures for environmental compliance as well as certification to ensure the standards of products; and access Immigration Control through the interface the portal has with the e-visa

UIA plans to grow the same integration of agency systems that eBiz has created as a media for offering aftercare services,  from registering/ licensing a start-up to inter-agency communicating and mediating of investor issues hence offering investor aftercare in real time.
