Four months after a Chinese investment and business delegation from Weifang City in the Province of Shandong visited Uganda, another high-powered 30-person strong delegation is in the country, exploring various investment and business opportunities.
The delegation is led by Liu Jianjun, the Mayor of Weifang City, who during the first visit on March 26, 2024, the Weifang Bureau of Commerce promised to arrange a private sector delegation to visit Uganda and explore the various investment and business opportunities.
Mayor Jianjun said the delegation’s investment interests in Agriculture, Oil & Gas, Real Estate, Manufacturing, Construction, ICT, Machinery, Automobiles, and Healthcare, amongst others, and plan to boost Ugandan exports to China.
Welcoming the delegation to Uganda Investment Authority, the Director General, Robert Mukiza, commended Weifang City for delivering on its promise of a high-powered investment delegation to Uganda.
Mukiza said Uganda offers vast investment opportunities, investment incentives, economic and political stability, security of person and property, high profits, access to lucrative markets, highly young and skilled labour, and a strategic investment and business location in the heart of Africa.
“Investing in Uganda offers access to markets like the East African Community, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, and the African continent. Make your headquarters here and enjoy the benefits. On return to China, spread the gospel about investing in Uganda”, said Mukiza.
He said Uganda is Africa’s third most profitable country, adding that “If you want to make money, invest in Uganda and work with Uganda Investment Authority which will ensure that they do the running around for you to ensure to set up shop easily and faster”.
The Director General told the delegation that industrialization is on top of President Yoweri Museveni’s development agenda, urging the Chinese investors to come on board.
“I look forward to a Weifang Industrial Park here, including a pathogenic establishment,” Mukiza said.
