UIA Does Not Allocate Land to Investors in Wetlands

The Executive director of Uganda Investment Authority, Eng. Dr. Frank Sebbowa has revealed that no investor is allowed to establish a firm without authorization from NEMA. He stressed that whenever an investment has environmental issues, UIA recommends an Environmental Impact Assessment and does not license the company until the environmental approvals from NEMA are in place.

UIA and NEMA work closely and they approved and recruited a staff to monitor if the licensed investors are still fully following the guidelines and working conditions as stated in the certificate issued.

He encourages Ugandans to take responsibility of their environment by reporting to NEMA any form of environmental degradation.

He also adds that different government entities came together to create an Electronic One Stop Centre (eBiz)   that will ease doing business and is expected to be fully operational by June 2016.
